Project Summary

The project consisted of pavement and drainage repairs to district roads and state controlled highways resulting from flooding by ex-cyclone Oswald during January 2013. Works were completed on 320+ individual sites across 22 roads in the Transport and Main Roads District, spread from west of Emerald to Byfield and Marlborough to just north of Bundaberg.

The project was delivered as 4 separate Road Performance Contracts (RPC) with separate durations and completion dates.

The pavement works involved rehabilitation using cement and significant sections of rehabilitation with granular overlays. The drainage works included removal of silt and debris from culverts and table drains, repairing of scours and installation of rock and concrete protection to culverts.

The Contract Administration and Verification Team successfully delivered a quality product to the Client, including full surveillance and contract administration for 4 separate contracts carried out by the Contractor con-currently. The Superintendent’s team devised the surveillance plan (traffic, safety, quality) based on several risk workshops, which was approved by the Principal and subsequently implemented. The Superintendent’s team completed a full site assessment of the 320+ individual sites across 22 roads in order to confirm the scope of works (and funding eligibility) prior to the Contractor starting.
